Dove Cottage is situated on the edge of Grasmere and is best known as being the home of the great poet William Wordsworth.

Wordsworth lived at Dove cottage with his sister Dorothy from December 1799 to May 1808 where they enjoyed as they called it "plain living, but high thinking". Dove cottage is now owned by the Wordsworth Trust and is open to the public. The cottage is beautifully preserved and is much the same as it was when Wordsworth lived there, the pretty garden is also open weather permitting.
