Hill Top Farm can be found near Sawrey, just outside of Ambleside, it is best known as the home of the famous children's author Beatrix Potter.
Beatrix bought the seventeenth-century farmhouse in 1905 and lived there until the 1920's. Now owned by the National Trust, Hill Top Farm is a time capsule of Beatrix's life with every room containing a reference to a picture in a 'tale'.
Hill Top's beautiful cottage gardens are also open to the public and there is a children's garden trail during holiday periods.
